Palm Sunday Youth Group

Hey Everyone:

This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday and after Roses and Thorns and dinner we are going to have an informal Holy Week gathering for youth group in the sanctuary. The theme will be thanksgiving, mourning, and hope. Musicians, poets, writers, visual artists, this is your chance to shine. Your contributions do not need to be "religious" so much as they should be about one of the three themes. Contact me with what you can offer for this experience.

If you want to participate, but don't know what to do, contact me and I'll come up with something. This will be a different kind of church, look forward to it.

Peace,

Tom

Once again: Bread Bake Details - This coming Saturday.

Interesting effect in the email last night - for many of you it might have been white text on white background - let's try this again.

Just a reminder that THIS Saturday, March 24th 2012, is the Bread Bake at church. This is a mandatory event for all mission trip participants. We will be baking bread and scones to sell the next morning at church as a fundraiser for the mission trip. This is a wonderful opportunity for the youth and the adults to get to know each other better for the mission trip this year.
There will be a variety of activities going on - bread baking, donation request letter writing, games, music, movies, ...  It starts at 7:00 p.m. and will go until after church on Sunday. We do need youth to stay around to help sell bread, sell coffee and work the silent auction on Sunday.
Youth, please remember that the Covenant rules apply to the bread bake--- this means NO CELL PHONES, drugs, alcohol, leaving the church, etc.
What do you need to bring:
* Addresses for at least 5 people to write donation request letters to.
* Sweet bread baking pans. (The disposable pans we've used in the past have gotten expensive, so we are going to use regular pans and reuse them. They are about 4"x8" and it would be nice to get at least 30 pans to use.)
* Movies, games, iPods (no iPhones!) Also if one or two people could bring an iPod player, that would be great.
* Basic sleeping stuff, sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, change of clothes
* Snacks to share for the evening - breakfast will be provided

We look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday!  Parents - if you need to get in touch with the youth during the bread bake, please either call church, or my cell phone (651-335-6962). If you have any questions, please feel free to email Norm (normt@computer.org) or Clara (clara.dockter@gmail.com)

Important Reminders for Youth

Hey All:

First, please review the post from February 5th about taking part in the pastoral search survey. It gives all the details how to do so. Time is running short (March
10th)and the voices of EVERY member is important. So if you are confirmed, get heard and influence the direction that this church takes in the coming years.

Second, the youth group schedule goes weird this time of year and so here it is. This will also be in the Here and Now, weekly bulletins, and the website:
March 11: No youth group (all church retreat)
March 18: No youth group (Spring break)
March 24-25: Breadbake overnight for senior high at 7pm until bread sales on Sunday after the late service.
March 25: Youth group for junior high (though senior high are welcome to attend)

Alright, that's all. Go fill out that survey. The link is in the February blog post.

Peace,

Tom

Mission Trip- Update on Fundraisers and Events

Hello Everyone!

Sorry in advance for the length of this post but there quite a bit of information we need to relay to everyone!

It's that time of year again that the Silent Auction is kicking into full gear. Thank you, Laura Donovan for all your help with the Auction!! We couldn't do this without you or any of the other wonderful volunteers! We need youth to volunteer on the following Sundays to help Laura and crew during and after church with the organization, bidding, etc. for the auction items.

Youth, If you can volunteer on one of those sundays, either sign up in the Facebook group or parents, can send me or Maddie Schafer an email. Remember that helping out at the silent auction counts towards your participation in fundraiser! In addition to helping on the Sunday dates, remember youth that you are excepted to donate at least one item/service/good to the auction. If you need help with ideas, please contact Laura! One last thing for the Silent Auction, please remember to send the letters to various businesses you said you would go and talk to. The Silent Auction is our biggest fundraiser and each donation counts! If you need a copy of the letter, please contact Laura.

Moving on from the Silent Auction to Coffee Sales! Coffee Sales at Church are going to be running simultaneously with the Auction Sundays. The Schafer/Bell Clan has generously offered to once again be in charge of the sales. The Coffee Sale is a fantastic fundraiser as most everyone likes coffee and buys it anyways! Here are Sundays we need help with sales. We need two youth per sunday. And like with the Silent Auction, selling coffee counts towards your participation.

In addition to doing in church sales, youth will be selling individual sales. The order form is listed as a link on the Blog. We will be taking orders for individual sales until Sunday, April 15th. Order forms can be turned into Tanya Bell, or if youth you attend school with Maddie, Julia, or Lily you can turn the forms into them. Coffee will be ready for pick up on Sunday April 22, 2012.

The Bread Bake is scheduled for March 24th at 7pm to March 25th. The Bread Bake is a required event for each participant of the Mission Trip-- if you have a conflict, please contact Tom E. We will be making Bread and Scones to sell at church on Sunday March 25th. We will also be sending letters out for our letter campaign. More details on the Bread Bake at a later date.

Thank you taking the time to read this rather long post! We will be posting about mission trip meeting dates in April and May, so on the lookout for that post. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me an email at clara.dockter@gmail.com

Peace.
